Skylar was born and raised in Taber, Alberta, where her dance career began
at the age of three. Ever since, she has called Vandance Studios her home
and continued to pursue more advanced classes and opportunities by
commuting to Lethbridge for the past decade. Throughout her years of
instruction under the talented and supportive Vandance teaching staff, she
completed her Tap 9 within the Al Gilbert Syllabus along with her Grade 8
and Intermediate Foundation examinations.
Skylar is trained and has and performed in a variety of different dance
disciplines including tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, hip-hop, lyrical,
contemporary, and musical theatre. She has participated in competitions in
Western Canada and the United States, but has also lent her talents to
local schools and New West Theatre in the past.
While Skylar has been a substitute teacher since the young age of thirteen,
she was ecstatic to take on her own class for the 2016-2017 season. In the
past year, Skylar has also broadened her dance skills and choreographed
competition solos and duos. Skylar enjoys working with all levels of
dancing including recreation hip-hop and private lessons for dancers
preparing for exams.
When Skylar is not at the dance studio, she is studying at the University
of Lethbridge as a Nursing student. She believes that her drive and
attention to detail that allows for her to succeed at school were
strengthened by her time at Vandance studios. Skylar loves to work hard and
have fun, and she is grateful to have both as part of the Vandance staff.
