Vanessa Cowan

Vanessa Boyczuk Cowan, is the Owner and Artistic Director of VanDance Studio which opened in Taber Alberta 32 seasons ago. Prior to that, she operated VanDance Studio in Saskatchewan for three years as well as teaching at the Doris Sitter School of Dance in Moose Jaw where she grew up dancing. She now operates VanDance Studio in Lethbridge and is also the Director of Gilbert Tap Exams throughout Canada.

Vanessa was trained in Tap (C.D.T.A), Jazz, Ballet (R.A.D.), Highland, Ukrainian, Baton and Acro. Vanessa went on to study and train throughout Canada and the U.S.A. Her true passion was the art of performance, and she loves to bring this out in her own VanDance students.

Vanessa’s students have gone on to perform for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, New West Theatre, Stage West, Jubilations as well as various concerts and stage shows. Many of her students over the years have gone on to continue training with additional training and performance companies such as Source Dance Co. and ITP in Vancouver as well as Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto and have gone onto performed on stage and screen. Many of her students are now teaching and running their own studios in the dance industry.

She has been lucky enough to share her choreographic talents with many production companies including New West Theatre choreographing over 25 production shows for the Theatre company. Her choreography credits include: Oliver, Finian’s Rainbow, Kiss Me Kate, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Grease and Hairspray.

Vanessa’s performance credits include: Grease(Frenchie), Gypsey(Dainty June), Anything Goes(Bonnie) as well as performing with New West Theatre.

She is very proud of her VanDance Family as well as her own Family, daughters Meghan, Madisan and son Evan. Vanessa also has a Grandson, Jett who she loves spending time with.
